Paramedic Services has partnered with the Halton Multicultural Council and Halton's prenatal nutrition program participants to further educate adults. The report stated early activation of paramedics via 911 is very important for cardiac arrest patients and several medical studies suggest CPR by bystanders plays an important role in treatment of cardiac arrest outside a hospital. The number of cardiac arrest patients receiving bystander CPR in Halton rose between 2004 and 2010, but has remained at 34-39 per cent since 2010. Of the 221 people, receiving resuscitation in 2014, 75 had CPR from a bystander and only six had AEDs applied to them. The PAD program sees AED units in municipal facilities -- arenas, pools, libraries and recreation centre -- as well as in Conservation Halton parks, Sheridan College, GO stations and schools.
