"We provide long-term housing as well as wrap-around social support for single-parent families, who are homeless and or facing severe economic hardships. "Many come to us from shelters. They may be living in a vehicle. They may be bouncing from home to home until they outstay their welcome. That's no life for a child or an adult." Whole Foods Marketing and Community Relations Director France Fournier reiterated the importance of having the supports in place that HSH provides. "When you think about it, homelessness is something that can happen to an awful lot of people," she said. "It is never just one thing, but it is an escalation of different events in your life and one day you find yourself in a situation where you don't have a home. It could be a financial hardship. It could be a family breakdown. It could be a number of things and that's why it is so important that we have an organization like Home Suite Hope in the region to give those people somewhere to go." Share the Hope participants have the option of a 2.5 km walk or a 5 km walk. The Coronation Park event features a live band, music and entertainment; fitness activities courtesy of Sweat Shop Union; food and beverages; a Kids Zone; a Selfie Booth; team theme prizes and more. Oakville Mayor Rob Burton and Ward 2 Town and Regional Councillor Cathy Duddeck are expected to attend. Residents can register online at www.homesuitehope.org to create their own fundraising page. Registration is free if $100 in pledges is raised; otherwise there is a $25 fee to participate in the walk. Children 12 and under can attend free-of-charge. Dogs are welcome, but need to be on a leash and comfortable in crowds. Registration for the walk begins at noon. Enjoy colour all summer with our 12" Look At M long e Hanging Baskets.
