Page Eight THE COLBORNE EXPRESS, THURSDAY, JANUARY 10th, 1957 ADJUST TO RETIREMENT Being able to adjust themselves to retirement may add many years to the lives of those who retire from a busy job. An active person who leaves a job for a life of idleness may actually decrease his life expectancy by years. Ten years at least is not too long to spend in experimenting with hobbies and compensatory occupations to take the place of the old career. By trying out these ways of spending the long sparetime of the future, the pre-re-tired should enjoy the period of preparation and benefit from the results later. It is estimated that for every Canadian employed in the mining industry, four others are employed in related or supply industries. IN TIME OT EMERGENCY At least one member in every house hold should receive training in first aid. Very few families are entirely free from occasional accidents, sometimes serious but usually minor but even small injuries should be cared for; in case of more serious injury, someone who is qualified should be in charge until medical aid can be summoned. It is especially urgent to case of poisoning that the proper procedure be. taken immediately, in order to save a life. For a century cotton manufacture has been an industry of major importance in Canada and today is still the largest segment of the Canadian primary textiles industry.
