Budd brothers, Darryl, Chris and Terry, with support from parents Stu and Bonnie, have been on the Oakville automotive scene since the opening of the family's first dealership, Budds' British Motors on Speers Road, in 1973. "I'm sure I'll need the new hospital some day, as will the boys, so donating to the equipment fund was important for me," said Bonnie. As a result of the donation, the Resuscitation and Acute Care Zone in the new Oakville hospital's emergency department will be named in honour of the Budd family. "The Budd family's corporate support for numerous important charities in Oakville is well-known, and mom Bonnie has been contributing to OTMH (Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital) for the past 26 years," said Tina Triano, Oakville Hospital Foundation CEO. "We are equally honoured and grateful that they've further invested in the health of our community with this significant gift toward the hospital's equipment needs." Currently, the Emergency Department at OTMH treats more than 52,000 patients annually, according to hospital officials -- a number that is expected to grow to more than 72,000 by 2015 and 96,000 by 2024. The Resuscitation and Acute Care Zone will be located adjacent to the ambulance entrance and accommodate the most-critically ill patients, such as those with cardiac and respiratory conditions, or in need of a much higher level of monitoring and observation by a specialized nursing staff.
