Oakville will be represented at OWHA tournaments in the following divisions: novice A and B; atom AA, BB and B; peewee AA, A (both the Bouwman- and Lindseycoached teams) and BB; bantam A, BB and B; midget AA, A (Rees), BB (Kemp) and B; intermediate AA; and senior. Games in the novice B, midget C and senior AA divisions are being played at Oakville's Sixteen Mile Sports Complex today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday). Other sites for provincials include Mississauga, North York, Etobicoke, Brampton, Toronto and Vaughan. The intermediate AA championships, which feature all the teams in the Provincial Women's Hockey League, began yesterday (Thursday) and will conclude Sunday at North York's Canlan Ice Sports. The Hornets were the PWHL regular-season champions and finished third in the league's playoffs. Oakville residents Taylor McMahon, Laura Crowdis, Kristin O'Neill, Sarah McDonnell, Claire Merrick and Nicole Collier helped the Stoney Creek Sabres win the PWHL playoff title. The peewee A (Bouwman) and midget AA Hornets each won Lower Lakes Female Hockey League championships earlier this season. With the exception of intermediate AA, qualification for the OWHA tournaments is based on regions, with some divisions allowing one team per region and others allowing two.
