Jean was the daughter of Mildred (nee Fountain) and Percy Browning of Innisfil. She is survived by her son Barry, daughter-in-law Annette and grandchildren Tyler and Amy. Jean was one sharp lady having been appointed as a Justice of the Peace for Ontario in 1949, before subsequently dedicating her life to the love and care of her family. Five grandsons, Jay, Andrew, Dale, Kevin and Dylan and five great-grandchildren, Tessa, Kacie, Brooklyn, Emily and Olivia. Fran was a veteran of World War Two serving with the Canadian Women's Army Corps in Canada, England and Holland. She and her late husband Jack who was also in the service (RCOC) were married in Soest, The Netherlands in 1945 and travelled to Belgium and France for their honeymoon. The McMahon family of Peterborough Ontario were owners of a grocery store business for many years and many former customers will remember giving coupons for food during the war years. Fran was a member of St. Paul's United Church, Windsor Canadian Women's Army Corps. Salmon Lake Cottager's Association and Oakville Horticultural Society where she was an Editor for 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Eva, sister Betty Foster, son Stephen, daughter-in-law Audrey, grandchildren Carol (Graham Lane) and Vicki (Brad Lord), greatgrandchildren Andrea, Jessica, Nathan and Sarah. He emigrated from England in 1953 with Eva and Stephen and moved to Oakville in 1955 while working for Ford Motor Co. He retired from the City of Mississauga in 1981 where he worked as a construction inspector for many years. He was an avid square dancer but his passion was lawn bowling and was president and a longtime member of the Oakville Lawn Bowling Club. Many thanks to the staff at The Kensington Retirement Residence, where he spent his last few years, for their kindness and loving care. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Oakville Lawn Bowling Club at 111 King Street in Oakville on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. He will be missed.
