FORT WILLIAM, June 7.--Accusations against the Grain Growers' Company and their employes were levelled at a special session of the Grain Enquiry Board, which opened Monday in the Grain Exchange here, in the course of which an affidavit was filed, signed by James Kittredge, millwright of the company, claiming he had been directed by Foreman Murdock McKay to put false bottoms in elevator tanks in 1913, just before the official weigh-up in 1913. Other charges registered against the company by R. J. ^Henderson, formerly superintendent of the Grain Growers' Elevators, and now conducting a grain business of his own, were: That he had accused the company of this practice; That he had accused the company, and especially J. R. Murray, that the firm had transferred profits from the account of the Terminal Elevator to the export branch, amounting to $50,000; That while he was with the company he had been asked to do the same thing and had refused, because it was against the Grain Exchange rules and a criminal practice; That he had accused J. R. Murray, company's representative, of shipping two million bushels of Wheat in 1912 and 1913" without warehouse receipts, which were not forthcoming till almost a year afterwards; That the wheat so shipped belonged to people who were storing it in the elevator; That he had accused the United Grain Growers with not giving the C.P.R. credit for a matter of 40,000 bushels of wheat which was in the elevator when they took it over from the railway company; Moreover, that he had laid these accusations at a meeting held in the Grain Exchange two years ago, and had not been sued for libel. This special session of the Grain Enquiry Board is being conducted with Charles Birkett as commission- , and R. A. Bonner, K.C., counsel. Three witnesses, directed by Judge Hyndman's s.ubpoena, to appear before the board, failed to show j up at the morning session.
