ON MOVING DAY THE FLOWER POT CAN GO ANYWHERE owl Stayners old bridge could return to life STAYNER There used to be bridge of Highway 19 just west of Stayner which farmer used to get across to his fields on the north side of the high way It was simple wooden bridge built on two concrete piers on either side of lofoot wide ditch For years the only traffic it carried was tractor cart and few cows But four years ago the far mer sold his property to developer who subdivided the land into lots for subdivision Work started on the sub division three years ago and the contractor found the bridge ideal for transporting machinery and materials from Hwy 19 to the building site He never thought about the strain his heavy machinery put on the old wooden bridge But one day he found out there was limit to the weight the bridge would hear steam shovel got halfway across the bridge when it collapsed sen ding the shovcl into the ditch After the subdivision was finished and occupied the new residents decided they didnt want the bridge rebuilt fearing heavy influx of traffic from the highway to their neigh borhood Town council agreed saying there was sufficient access to the subdivision
