10 Thc Barrie Examiner Thursday March i7 1977 ing some form of amalgamation farfetched As Calvert point out it could be known along the Sports Corner Two leagues want change inflamediates curling By RANDY MCDONALD Examiner Sports Editor With each passing week the possibility of revamped fastball scene for Barrie steps little further from the rumor stage The Barrie and District Major Fastball League met earlier this week in an organizational type of gathering All teams were represented when the subject of change came up Would you as league consider some form of merger with the Barrie Mens Recreational Fastball League or some variation which would benefit both loops Basically that was the question The response was favorable says Gary Calvert president of the Barrie and District Fastball League The Recreational league has already hinted that it wouldnt mind some change as well The two leagues have the chance to get together to reach some form of agreement on March 24 at Georgian College Both leagues will have to have their minds made up by then At that meeting and its an important one stressed Calvert form of direction will result At its present stage it appears both leagues are consider The actual format will come later should the rssult from the meeting at Georgian College The idea of one fastball league in the city is not all that goaliead lines of the Barrie City Fastball League with two divisions Majorand Recreationdivisions Some of the stronger teams would leave the Recreation loop to compete in the Major division But again this is up to the teams themselves to decide They have to decide if they feel theyre strong enough to compete in the major division After all the purpose of such an arrangement is better balance in both leagues Important meeting for
