Senior searching for woman who came to his rescue by Herb Garbutt Oakville Beaver Staff 13 | Thursday, March 12, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Claude Tye said he was sure he was going to be run over. The Oakville senior was walking to a doctor's appointment on Feb. 3, the day after a snowstorm. When he reached the corner of McCraney Avenue and Trafalgar Road, Tye was met by a large snowbank. As the 81-year-old was climbing over, he said he stumbled and fell forward toward the busy intersection. Bleeding from his forehead, Tye said he was struggling to get back on his feet. "I tried to get up a couple of times," he said. "The third time, a car stopped right in front of me to protect me from the other cars." Tye said he had hit his head when he fell, driving his glasses into his forehead and cutting him. He would later need three stitches to close the cut. The woman driving the car that had stopped got out to make sure Tye was OK. When she found out he was on his way to a doctor's appointment, she offered him a ride. After making sure the senior got to the third-floor doctor's office, Tye said he assured her he would be OK. He thanked her and she left. She went back to the intersection and found my glove and brought it back to me. I'm not sure how many people would do that. It would be nice if there was a way to find her. She's really worthy of some praise. Oakville senior Claude Tye Oakville resident Claude Tye fell while climbing a snowbank en route to a doctor's appointment last month. He would like to thank the woman who offered him a helping hand -- a couple of times. | submitted photo Already impressed by the Good Samaritan who had come to his aid, Tye was shocked when the woman returned to the doctor's office. "While I'm waiting, the same lady come up to the office," he said. "She went back to the intersection and found my glove and brought it back to me. I'm not sure how many people would do that." Tye had asked the woman her name, but with all that happened that day -- his fall, getting his glasses fixed and a trip to the hospital for stitches -- he forgot it. "It would be nice if there was a way to find her," he said. "She's really worthy of some praise."
