Newman off duty with a sore eye. Mrs. K. Knapp has been sick for several weeks and is not improving. Mr. Donald Miller spent the weekend visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Miller. Mr. and Mrs. N. Lane are visiting at the home of their sou, Herman Lane, who moved into Mr. Ben An-dru's house recently. Dr. Crichton is having a new lighting system installed in his house. These plants are becoming quite pop-Mr. Jack Wolfraim of the Bank of Toronto, Toronto, and his young son, Jack, spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. J. E. Wolfraim. Our local car dealer, Mr. Win. Covert, has done an extensive business this season. He has nearly everyone supplied, now he is engaged in shipping poultry. Mir. and Mrs. Ethan Bush have, returned from Gravenhurst Sanitarium much improved in health and are living with his parents, Mr and Mrs. Wallace Bush. Our Young Peoples League is going in full swing again and both young and old are invited to their meetings, which are held every Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock. Remember the annual Christmas entertainment to be held in the Town Hall, Castleton, on Friday, December 23rd, 1927, at 8 o'clock. An unusually good programme is being prepared. Plan to be there. Watch for further particulars. Services in the United Church, Castleton, this coming Sunday, December 11th, 1927, at 10.30 and 7.00. S. School session at 10.30; public service at 7. In spite of the inclement weather, the basement of the United Church was filled on Wednesday evening last to hear Mr. Charles A. Cooke, the Indian entertainer. Mr. and Mrs. Harry McDonald and son spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Wills, Wicklow. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chapman attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Lacey last Thursday at Salem. Mr. Clarence Goodrich has improved his property by putting a new roof on his drive barn. Mrs. J. Collins, Miss Gladys Collins and Mr. Garnet Collins spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Austin Eddy. Mr. and Mrs. J. Trottman and children and Mrs. VanWlcklin recently visited Mrs. Carr, Morganston. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Spafford and son of Sidney and Mrs. H. Finkle of Trenton were guests of Mr. and Mrs Gordon Dunnett on Tuesday. The entertainment to be given in Eden Hall, Dundonald, will be held Friday night, Dec. 23rd, instead of Wednesday, 21st, as formerly announced. Many friends will be glad to hear that Mrs. W. L. Dunnett, who underwent a very serious operation last week in a Toronto Hospital, is doing as well as can be expected. Mr. Dunnett is still in the city. Nortoif^' of the Cobourg Baptist Church was' he preacher on this occasion and in-eresting and impressive discources were heard both miorning and evening. The choir, assisted by Vernonville talent, rendered special music, appropriate and inspiring. On Monday night, Rev. Mr. Norton gave his pop-address entitled, "Around the World with a Word." Singers front Baptist. congregation in Cobourg. some splendid selections on. solos, duets and quartette, which were ail greatly appreciated. The weather was not propitious for the large attendance specially dsirable on anniversary occasions, but all services were greatly enjoyed by those privileged to be present. MacAuley spent the weekend in Peterborough. (Mr. Allan Loomis has been visiting i,i Rochester for a couple of weeks. Mrs. T. Sykes of Warkworth has been visiting relatives here a couple of weeks. Mr. Jack Phillips is in Brighton, helping care for his sister, Mrs. Jac-kall, who is ill. F. H. McColl, B.A.Se, of the S.P.S. staff of Toronto University, was home . for the weekend. Mrs. Walter Ames has been in Pet-1 borough for a few days undergoing ! raminations and X-ray for stomach trouble. Mr. and Mrs. J. Peister attended the funeral of their brother-in-law, Mr. Jesse Funnell of Trenton, last Thursday. The 1928 motor car license plates ill likely be ready for issue about December 15th, 1927. Whether there will be a reduction on fees, the Hon. 1. S. Henry is unable to announce ntil after a meeting of the Cabinet.
