Are For People program of evening concerts in city parks got off to firstclass start Wednesday evening with performance by the Fig Leaf Jazz Band at Centennial Park The Fig Leaf band plays Dix ieland fitted in well with the other players HVTRODUCING Dixieland jazz finds its strength in good ensemble playing and the Fig Leaf band was usually suc cessful in projecting an even sound with highlighted solos by individual players Banjoplayer David Itawlings and clarinetist John Gould con tributed vocals to the concert two of the better numbers were Blueberry IIIII and St James Infirmary The Fig Leaf players have good time when they play and that usually means the air dience has good time too At the park concert everyone from the youngsters in the front row to the veteran Dixieland fans got into the swing of the music The Fig Leaf concert was the first in series of weekly con certs scheduled for Centennial Park this summer The next concert on lune 28 will feature the Barrie stage band lead by
