looking for student to work in her department this summer she first thought of hiring community college stu dent But when she found out Paul Sarossey was looking tor summer iob she hired the It yearold Barrie high school stu dent instead Sarossey has been interested in filmmaking for as long as he can remember Hes made two 15 mm films sold special ef fects sequence to film produe tion company and contributed footage to several CKVR shows including the Simcoe Rescue Squad special to be shown Wednesday At 16 Sarossey is an ac complished filmmaker and cameraman But hes had the advantage of growing up in family that encourages his in terest in films his father Ivan is photographer for Huchm Productions film production company that shares facilities with CKVRTV entertanmet Ive learned lot from my father says Sarossey When have technical problem he can help Hes like textbook for me The young filmmakers most recent accomplishment is an eightminute color film about activities at St Josephs Junior High School where Sarossey is Stratford audiences more intent now SIRAIFORI nt CPI tlIItllS are reacting with an unusual intentness to the three versions of frames required to create the animation effect had to be drawn by hand Sarossey put great deal of work into the film and it shows So many things are involved in making film he says Its not just using camera theres timing and sound too painter or writer only deals with one medium in film there are so many things to pur sue Sarossey is determined to make career in filmmaking perhaps as cinematographer or director Hes made no definite plans beyond high school But his dream is to at tend film school such as the one at UCLA which has pro 309W DRACULA duced two directors be ad mires Steven Spielberg and George Lucas Judging by comments from two CKVR staff members whove worked with Sarossey that goal may be within reach Mrs Caldwell who can remember Sarosseys visits to the station when he was just small child says the young filmmaker is very talented He has very promising future she says Hes really developed an interest in film and hes very serious about it Hes quite sharp boy Brian Ingrey coproducer of the rescue squad special is just as impressed by Sarosseys work Hes excellent hell really make name for himself someday In the meantime Sarossey is preparing to shoot another film for his school graduation Once school is finished hell be work ing fulltime as CKVR news cameraman for the summer adding further credits to an already impressive list of ac eomplishments
