now more than 900 registered Kanatas in The Kanata is described as an Appaloosacolored pony with the temperament and conformation of small horse Kanata is the Huron word for the first French settlement in Canada It means village or group of buildings Robertson bought his first Kanata pony in 1972 when he purchased Ski Ridge Polka Dot Prince from Wilbert White He now breeds miniature type of Kanata that ranges in height from 40 to 45 inches Registered Kanatas may measure up to 56 inches at maturity six years old Ponies and horses are measured at the withers the highest part of the
