Ga did what he set out to do here Sun Mauchs late fall ruins cycle placing sixbike pileup can ruin your whole weekend says Bar rie cyclist Jeff Mauch The 23yearold former Eastview Secondary School stu dent was feeling pretty good during the weekends Ottawa Spring Stage Road Races after placing 12th in field of 73 after the opening race and heading toward another good finish in the second stage 20mile 20 lap shortcourse event With three laps to go however Mauch became in volved in crash with six other participants After almost five minutes of untangling he finish ed the race but crossed the wire too far back in the field to have any chance at good over all placing was doing pretty well up to that point Mauch said But the crash eliminated any chances had to finish high in the final standings In the third stage of the com petition the Barrie rider finish ed in the main body unplaced after SSmile trek through Gatineau Park In the opening event the time trials Mauch finsihcd the 10
