Washington performance the press will be all over it The actors scurry about and somehow out of all the turmoil they manage to pull together the show that has won them glowing reviews across North America As the lights dim in their warehousetumedstudio huge fluorescent donkeys fly across the stage chickens and pea cocks dance in chorus line giant mouse pounds on grand piano and multicolored fish float weightlessly through the air The fantasy creatures are puppets propelled by the actors who crawl leap and run about the stage Clad entirely in black including their hooded faces through which the puppeteers only have small black net to see and breathe they are in visible to the audience PLAYED VEGAS The players have seen their names on marquees in Las Vegas where they have ap peared with pianist Liberace four times toured Canada sev eral times appearing with sym phony orchestras and had their own television special In review of their first Las Vegas performance critic wrote The company of 12 inspired and gifted young people is sure to be among Lees Liberace most illustrious discoveries Another reviewer reported that he heard numerous mem the troupe was scared about the early May Washington dinner presented for the presidents committee on employment of the handicapped had spec The dinner ial significance for the troupe because nine of the 12 per formers are mentally one of the most difficult techniques theatre has Ms Dupuy says noting that it took puppeteers at the Disney Stu dios in Los Angeles four years to perfect similar Pinocchio Puppet But her performers learned through repetition and sheer doggedness Black light isan ingenious theatrical technique which can make puppets seem to move appear and disappear on their own It was first performed in Czechoslovakia On darkened stage fluor escent props and puppets are lit by ultraviolet light which al though invisible to the human eye makes the puppets and props glow while the manipula tors dressed entirely in black remain unseen One of the acts the group took to Washington was Las Vegasstyle cabaret featuring lifelike puppets of Elvis Pres ley gyrating through the song Viva Las Vegas Barbra
