continue dictat ing ad ministration and financing only differently if returned to power in the May 22 general election ampagnolo said that within year sports congress corn prising representatives of inter ested national sport governing bodies and the new Sport Coun cil would replace the fitness and amateur sport branch of Health and Welfare Canada The councils purpose will be to engage in fundamental de bate on the needs of Canadian sport to discuss the possibility of partnership and to move trust to the achievement of that goal she said NIIIIIHIOVERNMENT The white paper came after two years of consultation showed sports governing bodies want autonomy but recognize the need for continuing govern ment involvement if Canadas full athletic potential is to be realized Pointing out that Sport Coun cils success depends on re sponse by organized sport busi ness universities and other ele ments of the sports community she said improving Canadas athletes requires more money and technical club won bronze medals on the weekend at the Etobicoke Falcons Invitational gym nastics meet Frazer performed well in four events to take the bronze medal for the precompetitivc under 14yearold Tyro division She placed second on the uneven bars and in the floor exv ercises fourth on the balance beam and sixth in vaulting McMillan took first place in vaulting in the underrtt cadets division in addition to third place the uneven bars and fourth on the balance beam Kotras finished second on the balance beam and third in the floor exercises and vaulting to win the bronze in the Tiny divi sion under8 one of the most competitive age groups with approximately 50 gymnasts competing In the recreational group competiton Kelly Moorfield won bronze medal for her per formance in the cadet division Moorfield placed second in vaulting and on the uneven bars and finished third on the balance beam Barrie head coach Nicky Emms said she was pleased with the results of her club members performance par ticularin since it was their competition debut Other precompetitive club membcrs who ranked in the overall standing for their divi sion were Denise Reed fourth Lori Procec fifth and Lisa Bessy sixth or for 25 weeks each or 15 for 10 weeks each Approved employers will receive grant of $125 an hour up to maximum of $50 week 40 hours for each young person hired under the program Hiring of Employees
