everyone to use it and is more than willing to tell everyone how great it is but that doesnt mean she will push them in Ms Wallace is the executive director and counsellor at the recently opened Catholic Family Life Centre located on Dunlop Street next to the Fred Grant Square The concept is new in Barrie but the type of counselling which she will do fits in with the sort of work she has done for the last 10 years With BA in philosophy with sub majors in psychology and sociology and an MA in theology she combines academic training with year of work in the cursillo movement She describes cursillo translated from the Spanish for coursei as crash course in Christianity In the program Christians gather for an intensive weekend spent en tirely cut off from the rest of the world to talk pray and learn together the essence of Christian community life Although the movement is international begun in Spain in 1949 Ms Wallace was in strumental in bringing the program to Canada and in introducing it to the Anglican ChurchofCanada In the past 10 years in Toronto alone the Ann Landers No case for marriage Dear Ann Im 19 in the US Navy stationed at Great Lakes 111 This is no gag need surprised to learn it can be done She says the father of the baby swears it isnt his and wont marry her She thinks it would be nice if did in order to give the baby name Do owe her this because was the one who got her started on sex She seems to think so The last line of her letter said We can get divorced after the baby is born if you dont want to stay married to me What is your advice Old Mistake Washed Ashore Dear Ol You need this marriage like you need hole in your hull Say no Just because you were there for the launching doesnt mean you have to take over for second mate Dear Ann Landers Two weeks ago my husband passed away Fred and had been married 44 years He was member of the Masonic Order and was very proud of his ring He wore it all the time wanted him to be buried with the ring on his finger and was sure my wishes had been granted until last night My son came to dinner with his wife and before they left he handed me an envelope In it was his fathers Masonic ring was stunned because saw the ring on Freds finger when he lay in the casket asked my son how he happened to have it and he said the funeral direc tor handed it to him in silk pouch along with Freds wrist watch just before they left for the cemetery Does funeral director have the right to make such decisions cant look at Freds ring without bursting into tears Please respond to my question and tell me what to do Sad Heart In Sacramento Dear Sad lleart Unless the family specifies otherwise it is customary to remove jewelry from the deceased before burial Obviously no one told the funeral director it was your wish that Fred be buried with the ring Time will ease your grief and one day you will be hap py to have the ring to give to your son or grandson as keepsake Dear Ann Landers realize you receive thousands of letters but how long can one have hope that his or her letter will one day appear people involved in the program have grown from three to over 2500 and thats Roman Catholics alone She was one of the founders of leaders school for the cursillo movement and hel it spread to other cities including Hamilton Peterborough Ottawa and Mon treal She helped organize cursillos in prisons and is gratified to know that the government has recognized them as viable rehabilitation programs FAMILY LIFE But the cursillo movement did not bring Ms Wallace to Barrie He came here to assume the leadership of the Catholic Fami ly Life Centre service oriented organiza tion primarily designed to help through counselling those Roman Catholics living in Simcoe County She witnesses her faith constantly in her words and actions stating firme that she is totally oriented by my Catholic beliefs and convrctions and that she accepts whole heartedly what all the bishops including the pope define She accepts in other words the churchs rules governing the use of birth control the attendance of church the saying of confes sion and women in the priesthood all con troversial issues which challenge the modern Catholic in his or her daily life That is not to say that she forms hard line in her advice to the people she counsels Wallace and the centre are new to the area but she has impressive credentials as counsellor within the Catholic church Examiner Photo Sheila Wallace abandons her desk and gives her guest the view of the lake when she counsels in an effort to make the holiday as at naval garrison Christmas has taken on copious variations through many generations but no version is as impressionable as Canadian Christmas in the 19th century For the fifth straight year Huronia residents can sample the true spirit of Christmas when the Historic Naval and Military Establishments in Penetanguishene holds its annual Open House on Saturday and Sunday December 15 and 16 As fitting conclusion to International Year Of the Child history and winter are portrayed through the eyes of children offering the visitor glance back to world of hardship tempered by Christmas mirth INTERPRETERS Three buildings will be open Officers Quarters Keating House and Orientation Centre with period decorations and costumed interpreters The buildings are not hard to find you need only follow the sound and smell of crackling fireplaces The delights of Christmas are never fulfilled without the touch of children and for Open House three grade five classes from Ecole St Joseph in Penetanguishene provide their per sonal interpretation of 19th century Christmas through art work displays and period activities The Orientation Centre will display artwork depicting winter activities for children in the 19th century along with the style of Christmas enjoyed by youngsters 140 years ago Over the years public school children have always played an integral role at Open House but this winter season is of even greater significance as International Year of the Child draws to close We feel that Christmas Open House gives us an ideal op portunity to salute the kids while bringing to close both their year of recognition and our year of programing at the site said Burke Penny Manager of the Historic Naval and Military Establishments We try to promote an air of festivity that was present around Christmas time at the garrison but at the same time give visitors feeling for the hardships that existed in an isolated outpost in the mid18005 added Penny As sleighs usher people disease instead of leprosy seizures instead of epileptic fits and please deaf and mute instead of deaf and dumb is death march Heres perfect gift for the man in your life Quperior ropnne Dear Parents Im happy to join the crusade And while Erma Bombeck Trips like By ERMA BOMBECK always wanted to do funny book about travelling But could never think of anything funny to write about it Most trips are like death march with stopoffs at tedium exhaustion and layover at frustration Ifyou doubt it just ask yourself have you ever seen trav eller anywhere with smile on his face Every time return home from trip sit for days and ponder on the great mysteries of travel Like how come the first suitcase off the plane never belongs to anybody hve purposely run from the plane to the baggage claim area to make sure see the first piece to come rolling down the chute Minutes later 35 or 40 of them to be exact when have my luggage that first piece is still whirling around unclaimed Why is it the window seat on the plane is always occupied by someone who is sick or asleep How come when the pilot comes on over the PA and says For all of you camera buffs sitting on the right side of the airplane there is an absolutely breathtaking view of Halleys Comet passing over the Statue of Liberty am always sitting on the left side which has been enveloped in clouds since we left the airport It has always been mystery to me how the Fates know which gate to send me to When am carrying newspaper and my handbag and have two hours and half to change planes am at gate two However when am carrying my own luggage three pound novel hot rollers an extra coat and live cactus for my hostess and have 12 minutes to make connection my gate is still being built There is never choice on will your luggage get lost or not get lost The choice is always will it get lost on the way TO your vacation or on the trip home It is invariably the for mer And finally theres the Feast or Famine Law dieter will be met on the 700am flight with glass of champagne and food every 15 minutes throughout the flight and twice over each time zone while the starving person will be forced to live by macadamia nuts alone Maybe travelling was never meant to be fun experience Come to think of it Wilbur and Orville Wright rode bicycles Pollys Pointers Dryer left its mark DEAR POLLY My husband was laundering his fine cotton underwear and put it in dryer that had been used to dry rubberbacked rugs The intense heat had melted the backing so fine lumps of the backing adhered to the clothing cannot get them off because they have hardened Please let me know if there is way can correct this condition VERA DEAR VERA Yours is an unusual problem that have no pat answer for It will require bit of experi menting would first try soaking these spots in white vinegar If that does not soften them you might put the underwear back in the hot dryer and leave It jnst long enough to hopefully soften the rubber When softened use dull table knife to scrape off as much as possible and then use cleaning fluid to remove any lingering stains Wash with detergent and dry in clean dryer If any readers have had similar experience that was successfully solved feel sure they will tell us about it POLLY GOLD JE WELLER FIIATURING 13 kt Handcrafted English Rolled lold Wire 10 kt told tll1llthwnS ltcautiful manmadc diamonds from Israel by
