house at 37 and 39 Toronto Street south of Dunlop Street West through Central Mortgage and Housmg Corp The next step however gives property owners within 60 metres of the lot chance to ask questions about the project at an Aug 23 hearing Although the clubs proposed centre will be correctly situated in C1 zoning for com mercial use city bylaws say the lot falls eight square metres short of the IOLSIZC require ment for rehabilitation cen tre Also the front yard should legally be about two metres longer than the Toronto Streets 41metre front yard The club has applied to the ci ty for readjustment of these zoning standards and now needs the support of residents LETTERS SENT Al Macmillan the clubs past president is eager to have all This house on Toronto Street in Barrie south of avoid motherhung men when looking for husband Why dont you give similar advice to men Infantile emotional dependency is not characteristic that is exclusively male Many married women who appear to be quite mature are hopelessly attached to Mom They often run to her with intimatetype problems that should be discussed with their husbands Not long ago listened to an acquaintance gloating over the fact that her daughters still tell her everything despite their husbands protestations She was very pleased with herself thought it was revolting Soon after was not surprised to hear that one of her daughters was being divorced In our sexist soci men are still expected to prove their manhood by puttin 5000miles if possible between them selves and their mothers or better yet pretending shes dead Yet no one looks askance on woman who cant get through the day without talking to her mother Either extreme seems pretty sick to me What do you say Ann Landers ReaderWriter Dear ReaderWriter You make valid depends on where Mother lives how long what they talk about woman who must talk every day and at length with mother who lives in another city has problem But daily Hello Mom how are you does not seem sick to me when Mom lives across town In fact would give anything if could pick up the phone and hear my own dear mothers voice again Dear Ann Landers My physician has told meI must have hysterectomy very soon am new patient having moved to this city only few months ago He said should have had the operation quite while ago because the fibroid tumors have grown so large they are very nearly blocking my bladder passage When told my sisterinlaw was having this operation she said she hoped understood that it meant the end of satisfactory sex life for me am speaking from ex perience she said phoned my doctor at once and told him what my sister inlaw had said He assured me that she was mistaken then called her back and repeated my doctors reassuring words Her reply was All male doctors tell you that What do THEY know They arent women Please Ann check with your authorities and give me the correct information Afraid To Lose It Dear Afraid The authorities in the field of gynecology with whom consult tell me sexual pleasure experienced by woman after hysterectomy need not be diminished unless of course she believes old wives or sistersinlaws tales that have no basis in fact Some women find their sex lives better after this type of surgery because it frees them from the fear of pregnancy which can be strongly in hibiting The only thing that may be different in some cases is the need for lubricating agent which can be purchased in any drugstore Ask your doctor about it int but it talk and For What its Worth Campings not for everyone By MARGARET WORTH Last week the house was in an absolute uproar Sleeping bags dumped in untidy bundles cardboard boxes marked Perishable Handle with care lying in the bright sunshine on the back lawn small piles of canned goods stacked in odd corners and people running hither and thither with long lists in their hands My family was getting ready to go on its annual camping trip without me have learned to overcome the feelings of guilt which troubled me when first abdicated from my position as Chief cook and bottle washer frankly preferring to stayliome and work After all was brought up to believe that mother should care for and cherish her little family going where they go sharing their trials and tribulations However there is limit to how far this mother will go For seven years went careering around the countryside in the high and happy days of summer when the kids were littlearmed with nothing more complicated than the most basic form of camper metal box on wheels with tent on top pile of groceries and Coleman stove still get goose bumps if am foolish enough to dwell on painful memories of cooking lamb chops for seven with fresh garden peas and new boiled potatoes all on twoburner monster feel migraine headache coming if anyone even mentions pan cakes and bacon for breakfast cooked on an open stove and remain totally immune to the natural charms of the environ ment when walking mile and half to the nearest outsey because some small person forgot to go earlier Finally was forced to face the truth My idea of great holiday is room service at the flick of my dialing finger good guide map of all the local museum and art galleries and never whiff of woodsmoke unless it comes from large stone fireplace in the main dining room during dinner Theyll all be back today my brave travellers tired dirty and happy All loaded down with smokeladen sleeping bags old groceries and souvenirs they wont know what to do with Theyll be full of new experiences and tales to tell and Ill listen with enormous pleasure Heresay is absolutely the only way to go camping Shoe polish adds luster DEAR POLLY My husband has favorite ice buckci that IS made of cork It is in perfect condition except the rich dark color of the cork has faded and become dull looking is there some way could restore the nice brown color again MRS Wt DEAR MRS WON Your question is one of those that has no pat answer and may require bit of experi menting If the ice bucket were mine would go over the exterior with brown liquid shoe polish using the applicator that comes in the bottle If some spots are much lighter than others they might be touched up first Let dry Since cork is porous it might require more than one coat Test small area first After the desired color is attained coat of liquid wax could be applied to restore the luster Good luck POLLY DEAR POLLY Ever Since started wearing bifocals have had trouble threading my sewiig machine needle Now loosen the needle screw remove the needle thread and replace it My frustrations are over MRS DEAR POLLY Before heating milk spray the inSidc of the pan With nostick substance and find it much easier to wash the pan after the milk is heated When making gelatin salad or dessert put the boiling water in the bowl FIRST and then sprinkle the powder on top and stir The gelatin dissolves easdy No thick substance setv ties in the bottom of the container as is often the result when the powder is put in first LORRAINE DEAR POLLY Always wear fleshcolored panty hose With white pants and there Will be no line to mar the straight clean look of the slacks MRS LM DEAR POLLY and Leah During the many years was in the drycleaning business it was my privuege to coach number of ladies in the repair and alterations department in the necessity for lubricating hand
