The Prodigal Players Troupe will perform here the examiner Saturday August 11 1979 Prodigal Players wide experience in theatre By DOROTHY KILBURN The most exciting aspect to me about the Christian life is the way God speaks to those who are willing to follow Him beautiful example of Gods guidance is contained in the August edition of Na tional Geograhic Magazine which tells about the second part of Peter Jenkins walk across America Disillusion ed with Watergate the Viet nam war and the drug scene Peter had set out to rediscover America for himself before rejecting it At revival meeting in Mobile Alabama he found God At New Orleans he decided to visit friend whom he had met at the revival who was attending New Orleans Baptist Seminary His friend urged him to take advantage of the Religion roundup Points Always guidance from God quiet campus to write the first part of his walk across Anierica During Peters stay he met and fell in love with Barbara Pennell who was studying there Barbara realized that marriage with Peter would mean complete change in life style for her and she was doubtful One Sunday she told Peter that if she did not receive some direction from the Lord during the church service they were through That morning the sermon was given by lady in wheelchair who told the story of the servant of Abraham who was sent to Mesa potamia by his master to seek bride for his son Isaac The servant prayed by well that the girl who came and offered to water his camels would be Gods choice for Isaac Rebekah came and offered water to his camels The servant told her and her family his Masters request and Rebekah was asked Will you go with this man The preacher pounded her wheelchair and shouted Will you go with this man Barbara had her answer Through her tears she whispered softly Peter Ill gowith you On Jan 18 1979 Peter and Barbara met the Pacific and finished their walk across America at Florence Oregon To those who are willing to do the will of God there is always guidance from God And thine ears shall hear word behind thee saying This is the way walk ye in it when ye turn to the right and when ye turn to the left Isaiah 3021 Retiring after Pope COME JOIN THE FAMILY at GREEN PASTURES to have Jesus loves you for their heritage exists be tween Scottish Catholics and Quebecers says Malcolm Mac Donnell former president of St Francis Xavier University in Antigonish NS He said that because Cana dian Scots have retained their language customs games and dances they sympathize with Quebecers for wanting to retain their culture Dont take the audience to show take the show to the au dience The ageold custom of travelling players performing on mobile stage lives again The Prodigal Players are On tarios only travelling theatre troupe with it own portable stage complete with lights sound costumes sets and makeup The Prodigal Players group of 10 dedicated volunteers are committed to breating new life into these old medieval traditions Clowns and laughter parables and lighthearted look at human foibles Childrens theatre and some serious thinking about the human condition the show range from farce to serious and appeals to everyone The group will be performing in front of Collier Street United Church 112 Collier Street Tuesday August 14 An offering will be received The players bring wide ex perience in theatre comedy mime and music to the stage They are under the direction of Mrs Joyce Eagle wellknown teacher of theatre in Toronto Throughout August they will cross and recross Ontario staging their unique show in village and in the inner city The idea has been year in the making and it reflects the belief of the players that meaningful theatre program can be of excellent quality and also survive on volunteer basis Unlike many theatre groups the prodigal players receive no funding except ticket receipts and donations It is an old idea whose time has come again Canadian archbishop LONDON CP The possi bility of Canadian becoming the first nonEnglish Ar chbishop of Canterbury head of the Anglican community is being discounted here Instead the betting is that the successor to Most Rev Donald Coggan will be another Englishman Speculation here had been that Most Rev Ted Scott Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada was in the running to replace the man who has been titular head of the worlds 64 million Anglicans for nearly six years Archbishop Coggan 69 has announced he will retire from that post next January In the final instance the name of the new archbishop will be announced by the Queen In fact the choice will be that of the Crown Appointments Commission expected to put forth two names in order of preference to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher who then passes them along to the Queen supreme
