some problems now that the rival World Hockey Association is gone but the league president nopes the problems wont take Jp so much of his time Its nice to be looking ahead to this season and thinking Im going to be able to watch more hockey games and focus more attention on the game hope than lot of the business prob lems that have commanded so much of my time in the last couple of years said Ziegler In recent interview Ziegler was asked to give general as sessment of the coming season which will see four new teams who came in from the now defunct WHA certainly dont see it as an and to all our problems he said of the expansion that brought in Edmonton Oilers Winnipeg Jets Quebec Nor di ues and Hartford Whalers it were Id probably be out of job But Im rather excited and am lookin forward to this sea son thi perhaps share the fans curiosity as to the new teams coming in Theres number of players over there that Ive heard lot about and Im looking forward to seeing them play Im looking forward to seeing the league operate as one league and seeing our ap proach to the problem solving We have the opportunity now with the things that have taken place over the last three or four years of being able to change our focus from having to put out fires to being able to start doing things two three and four years ahead and that kind of planning And thats kind of exciting at least from my position CAMPBELL WORRIED Zieglers predecessor Clar ence Campbell said in an ear lier interview that the newly expanded league faces problems in that its balanced schedule each team playing each other team twice at home and twice on the road does not provide for buildingI of rivalries and fans will not ave chance to become familiar with some teams at the best possible prices STORE HOURS Saturday to Ziegler answered the charge by saying that the schedule was condition attached to the ex pansion and the league was stuck with it for two years But the NHL president said the league will be studying at tendance figures and the reac tion of fans and the media with view to possible changes in the scheduling and division alignments in the future One thing since there are new teams at least theres go ing to be great deal of curios ity so that everybody will have chance to see every team Ziegler like Campbell said he was leased to see the addi tion of ree Canadian cities to BARRIE GYM CLUB the NHL and has been encour aged by reports that all three have had good success in sell ing tickets He said all franchises appear to be in good financial position and he does not anticipate any clubs threatening to fold or move to new city In my judgment we are probably as financially sound as we have been since Ive been involved We have all our dues for operation either paid or se cured by letters of credit or certificate of deposit The own ership of our league today as to their own financial where withall is robably as great as the league as ever had The Barrie Gymnastic Club is
