College Theatre Friday afternoon The trio of Sharon Lois and Bram put on lively show enjoyed by kids and adults alike Examiner Photo Toronto trio puts on show pleasing to kids and adults By STEPHEN GAUER Of The Examiner Half the fun of going to childrens music concert is wat ching how the performers get the kids involved in the action onstage In the case of Sharon Lois and Bram who did two shows Friday at the college theatre the kids did everything but run up onto the stage and entertain the adults It helps to know the songs too The trios first album must have been big hit in Barrie because the kids werent shy when it came to singing the lyrics They also werent shy about mimicking the gestures that accompany the songs ABORTIONS PERFORMED COPENHAGEN CP The 23700 legal abortions perform ed in Denmark last year was the lowest number since abor tion on request was introduced in the country in 1973 govem ment spokesman said legal abortions numbered 27500 in 1975 and 26500 in 1977 BARBIE 7374412 BAVFIELD ST mark ark MOTNERS PIZZA 312 Bayfleld Street And Sharon Lois and Bram perform with such infectious enthusiasm that its hard to resists the kind of theatrical show they put on The music touches most of the bases of adult styles including folk pop rock and even little soul and that makes as appealing for adults as it is for the kids LIVELY Even when the lyrics cover the same ground such as singing monkeys fleas and rab bits time and time again theres enough wit and originality to keep things live ly Best of all these three per formers all with many years of experience performing for children know how to hold the attention of their audience and hold it right to the very end of the show Musically the groups strength lies in their versatile vocals which can be sweet and innocent silly and campy or loud and boisterous The three voices blend beautifully and the popstyle endings to many of these songs give them that add ed kick that makes the trios sound so refreshingly original Sharon Lois and Bram use all the classic ploys of the childrens entertainer the echo songs the progressions from loud to soft from slow to fast funny expressions Their enthusiasm makes the music work particularly the ex uberance of Sharon whos livewire performer from start to finish SMALLER TOUCHES lot of the smaller touches work well too the colorful dresses worn by Sharon and Lois the lowkey drumming of Bill Usher who produces the trios records and the solo per formance by Bram Morrison Morrison sings song that gets softer and softer with each repetition of the verse until he finally asks the audience just to think the words instead of singing them The group has come long way since they recorded their first album in the spring of 1978 That album One Elephant Deux Elephants went gold in less than year and now Sharon Lois and Bram find themselves in demand right across the country Its pleasure to see such creative and entertainer performers en joying so much success They accomplish more in 50 minutes than most groups accomplish in twohour concert mmfAl PtCYURES Ruben who stands IiArrniA Show nmesfi two INN NANCE GROW Ill PRISENIS MARTIN RANSOHOTF
