Stayner Collegiate totalling some $40000 have been award ed to Boyes Contracting Limited of Alliston The water mains one exten ding from Stayner border to hydrant near the school and second extnding to the rear of the building are required in case of fire at the school The fire marshall suggested the work be done following an ins ction several months ago an the Simcoe County Board of Education awarded the con tract Wednesday Because it is just beyond the towns border and water in suf ficient quantities to fight fire is not available the main becomes the boards respon sibility have little deer CAREFUL CONTROL Craig said however such fears are unwarranted as the ministry has planned careful control of the hunt The county has been divided into six units excluding CFB Borden which will supervise its own unit to be policed by addi tional conservation officers Local police forces have also been asked to cooperate Craig said Trespassing will not be tolerated and offenders will be charged by the ministry with no questions asked he said Craig said the ministry had taken into account factors such as posted land and housing den sity in planning and hunt and units with builtup areas and little forested deer habitat will have as few as 100 hunters Georgian Offering resuscitation workshop soon Georgian College health sciences division is conducting cardiopulmonary resuscitation workshops Sept 19 and 20 at the Continental Inn in Barrie and Nov 12 and 13 at St Josephs Hospital in Parry Sound The program is designed to provide participants with theory and In the methodology and for mat section of the course there will be lectures media presen tations detailed demonstra tions and intensive practice on simulated mannequins Preregistration is required two weeks before each workshop For further informa tion contact Margaret Watson at 3252705 RamonaGross of Barrie seems to be wondering what sign to follow as she waits at the Dunlap Street and Mulcaster Street intersection The city has in stalled number of new traffic lights at various intersections but the units havent begun operation yet The lights should be operational however by next week Examiner Photo Past hunts in the county have resulted in densities of about 30 hunters per square mile but this controlled hunt will limit the number to one per square mile he said In one unit which includes the townships of Innisfil West Gwillimbury and half of Tecumseth it is hardly likely anyone would even see hunter Craig said On an average weekend she said there are probably more smallgame hunters than thre will be during the hunt and these havent caused any pro blems PRIORITY TO LOCALS Craig said there is no need for concern that the county will be flooded by hunters from outside as priorities are being given to local farmers and of the 700 or so applications received by the efends deer hunt format ministry so far about 600 are from locals It is unlikely he said that ap plications will even reach the 2000 limit which the ministry feels can be accommodated Craig said that figure was not overlyhigh as there are about 5000 hunters in the area during the waterfowl season during which time the ministry receives hardly any com plaints We dont think there is going to be problem with the hunt but the only way we can prove this is to have it POPULATION UP Craig said the deer popula tion which is located mainly in the southern half of the county has increased rapidly as last years mild winter allowed them to survive in excellent condition PHARMACY PRESCRIPTIONS
