Reynolds teams up with Jill Clayburgh and Candice Bergen in one of the most awkward and least funny film comedies of the year Reynolds has gotten lot of screen mileage out of hairy chest and handsome grin but he looks so uncomfortable in this film that youre tempted to feel sorry for him Film groups celebrate IOth year TORONTO iCli Gerald Pratley probably will say few words before todays screening of My Best Girl at the Ontario Science Centre But he wont make speech Thats not his style Hell have more to say about the movies star Mary Pickford than about himself Its the lOtli anniversary of the Ontario Film Institute and the Ontario Film Theatre and Pratley has led them both since they began in October 1969 Those two plus the Ontario Film Archive constitute Canadas only provinciallyv financed fulltime repository and showcase for the motion picture arts Ontarios facilities are envied by film buffs from St Johns to Victoria Theres nothing else in the world Id rather do says Iratley Jessica and Iarily II he ilso spends one night week at divorced mens encounter group The other men are losers and soon we begin to suspect if dont already know that Phil Potter isa loser lOti lliit Itcy nolds looks too handsome in his tweed jacket and lie to come across as loscr who needs our sympathy Reynolds doesnt proicct anything in this tiliri hes an emotional zero who ney cr really connects with the two women in the film For her part Miss tlayburghs supremely intelligent face cancels out the kooky cageritions of her role while Miss Bergen pro yes once again that she looks nice
