Thank (you) everyone. Two of our FFs were transported to hospital with minor injuries," they tweeted. Glynn confirmed one of the firefighters returned to work later in the evening, while the other suffered a leg injury and was off indefinitely. "Both were released from hospital last night. One returned to work and one went home with a leg injury, so he'll probably be off for a bit," Glynn said. Shortly after the explosion, Oakville Hydro cut off power to the building. Several residents in the area reported their power being out, but it's unclear whether that was related to the incident at the seniors' residence. Police assisted staff of the retirement home in evacuating the building as a safety precaution, and in the relocation of its 12 residents to alternate locations. The seniors' residence had only opened on Feb. 1 and was not fully occupied. Oakville MPP and Ontario Minister of Labour Kevin Flynn sent out a tweet Friday morning thanking Oakville firefighters for their courage. "Oakville is extremely grateful for the hard work and fearlessness of @oakvillepffa. Wishing the best in health for all your members," Flynn wrote on Twitter. The Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) has now taken over the investigation because of the explosion, and because it occurred in a seniors' residence. Officials from the OFM were at Palermo early last Friday, along with Halton police. Residents returned home the following day.
