An annual business-networking event Wednesday, March 11 will also be celebrating International Women's Day (March 8). The event is hosted by the Halton Region Small Business Centre, in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure, at the OE Banquet Hall and Conference Centre, 2245 Speers Rd. This year's theme is Make it Happen. "Halton Region has a long history of supporting the entrepreneurial culture within the region and fostering its growth through our Small Business Centre," said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr. "Through our partnership with the provincial Halton to host Make it Happen business event March 11 government, this event will offer attendees the opportunity to learn from industry leaders and connect with other local, self-employed women." There is a $30 registration fee and participants will have the opportunity to listen to two inspiring keynote speakers, including entrepreneur, award-winning facilitator and author Kate Jones of Kate Jones & Associates, and Carol Schulte, professional speaker and creator of the Spark your G.E.N.I.U.S. Group Coaching Program. The event runs from 7:45 a.m. to noon and will also include breakfast, two local spotlight success stories and a chance to network with other entrepreneurs. According to Statistics Canada's self-employment historical summary tables, there were approximately one million self-employed women in Canada in 2014.
