Press Canadas national newsgathering coop erative Mr Trudeau scheduled to hold news conference on the content of the throne speech read to the session of Parlia ment held conversation with employees of CPs Ottawa bu reau who walked out at noon protesting inability to sign fir st labor contract embodying formula requiring future em ployees of the news co operative to pay dues to the Newspaper Guild whether they join or not The 275eniployee bargaining unit was certified in September last year but negotiations have been largely fruitless The prime minister attired in morning dress for the throne speech turned away from the picket line at the National Press Building just below Par liament Hill and held his news conference 40 minutes later in Encouraged by support OTTAWA CPI Joe Morris president of the Canadian Labor Congress CLC said Tuesday he is becoming more and more encouraged at the support which is continuing to pour in for the national day of protest The CLC has called for Cana dians to stay off work Thursday in protest against the federal governments wage and price controls Mr Morris made his com ment after saying that he had been told by Donald Nicholson new president of the Canadian Brotherhood of Railway Trans port and General Workers that the union Would support the protest The union has 40000 mem bers and is urging the fullest possible participation in the protest Il Nicholson said in telegram to Mr Morris Mr Morris also had some criticism for what he termed attempts by some Toronto media to discover cracks which simply do not exist He was referring to
