chairman Graydon Richardson said after the threehour ses sion in the township hall About 125 people attended 25 spoke against the airport and four favored it Many of these people had already made up their minds Mr Richardson said dont blame them Thats their right Critics said the airport with 3500 foot paved runway would bring noise increase highway traffic hurt television reception and reduce surroun ding residential property values Oro planning board chairman Clarence Smith said the meeting was not intended to gather public comments but to provide information about Bar ries request to measures atfithe prison The agreement said RCMP were to remain in the peniten tiary for two weeks and after one week meet with prison of ficials the prisoners com mittee and citizens advisory committee to discuss needs for continuing the presence of the force within the prison walls The nine prisoners who held Mr Culbert turned themselves over to RCMP who were to take them to an RCMP lockup before transfer to another federal penitentiary In addition the RCMP were to be responsible for removing the prisoners from the damaged east win and were to be observed by prisoners committee and the citizens committee The reement also said there wil be no physical pun ishment of any prisoner in volved in the insurrection and no internal disciplinary charges laid until after public inquiry has been held into the incident The agreement also said pris oners in uninhabitable areas of the penitentiary will be moved immediately to habitable areas and receive necessary medical attention There had been reports of dysentry because toilet facilities were destroyed in the east wing It is believed prisoners from that area will be moved to the gymnasium The reement also stipulated at every case of risoner seeking transfer rom the penitentiary be referred to committee com rising the regional transfer rd and the citizens com mittee PrISOners who gain transfers will be able to take all personal effects with them Members of the prisoners committee will be permitted to meet any prisoner held in the supermaxrmumsecurity sec tion Those in the su rmax imum unit will have he same rights to meet ternational Fire Training School in Vermont and Ontario Hydro As well there will be sessions with specialists in about 25 fields to learn how to handle specific emergencies Three volunteers will travel with the rescue vehicle when it ysquad attends an emergency Mr Joice says plans are also being made to have Registered Nurses available to work with the rescue squad The rescue vehicle is also made by Hurst Safety Pro ducts and is based on Ford Econoline Van It has dual rear wheels to handle the increased weight 11000 pounds and the body back of the drivers seat has been completely changed Behind the seat is reverse seating for three under half roof The rear half of the 20foot long vehicle contains compart ments for the cialized tools and firefighting oses The van is powered by large V8 engine which is linked to generator When the vehicle is at rest the engine provides the power for tools and pumps The jaws of life can be powered by the vehicle or remote por table generator When the squad becomes operational it should be busy By checking ambulance police and fire department records Mr Joice found those organiza tions would have used such vehicle about 300 times in the past year
