Ontario have been arriving at CFB Borden for training at the Area Rank and Trades School ARTS Capt Tony Keene ARTS information officer says there are two types of militia training programs geing on at the base The regular ARTS programs are designed for members of the militia seeking specific training large driving school offers instruction in the handling of military vehicles mobile support chIpment The school also teaches students how to drive in military convoys There is also training available for JUDIOI noncommissioned officer NCO ARTS skills posts This instruction says Capt Paul this train ing is done at their local annoury The students are given ac tual field training experience for six days at CFB Borden using the ARTS facilities The instruction involves field training and tactics including some suimulated combat conditions and range work firearm handling and traget shooting After the six lays the students return to their home militia unit When the ARTS training programs end all the militia units engage in two week concentration exercises in various loca tions in Ontario to practise their skills Capt rober says by the end of the program about 400 to 500
