the York Pioneer and Historical Society visited Wilsons Hill pioneer cemetery on Highway 27 about three miles south of here recently The Society had been invited by Neil McBride of Barrie to learn something of the his torical background of this pioneer cemetery and about some of the South Simcoe pioneers whose bodies are in terred therein The group was welcomed by Mr McBride Elmer Weber Rev Kenneth Rooney and Jack Dinwoody all members of the cemetery advisory committee and Councillor Robert Sturgeon representing the township council of West Gwillimbury and the Notta wasaga onservation Auth ority During the past summer much work has been done by the municipality group of students who were funded by the Ontario Government through the Conservation Authority and by several in terested individuals in an effort to restore some semblance of respectability to this cenetery which is the final resting place for so many who did so much to create the prosperous produc tive farmland in the Cookstown area of South Simcoe Those who have participated in this restoration project are justifiably proud of what has already been done and lock for ward hopefully to continued effort so that never
