recreation PAINSWICK 77 For many adults shovelling snow or pushing their cars out of drifts is the most exercise they get during the winter But in Painswick 16 adults get together every Wednesday night at Warnica School for little exercise and lot of fun Ed Bowman fitness en thusiast started the group last tall thought that lot of adults inst sit around all winter wat cliiiig television he said So last November he asked War nica School principal Len McEvoy if the school gym would be available during the week for an adult recreation group VISITORSJOIN He thought it was great idea said Mr Bowman Now the group meets every Wednes day night and has attracted core of 12 regular participants plus few visitors every week Each session begins with 13 minutes of calistlienics based on the 58X and ltlBX exercise plans developed by the ana dian Armed Forces in the early 1960s ABSOLUTE stock After the exercises the par ticipants break up into smaller groups for gymnastics or start pickup game of volleyball or basketball Many of the regulars said Mr Bowman claim the exer cise has helped get them into shape lot of the guys are surprisr ed at how much they can do now he said One guy plays hockey and says he can go full hour on the ice because he has got his legs back Mr Bowman said he thinks the SBX and IUBX plans are great way for the average adult to get into shape They wont get you into the Ulympics he said but you can get back into good physical condition However he cautioned that doing the exercises once or twice week isnt enough You have to do your homework he said One night week wont do you any good Mr Bowman said he does the exercises regularly at home and has complemented them withlight weightliftin lve added dunibells to help me with the pushups he said or else Id
