Curling Ass0ciation will start play Mon day at Stroud curling rink for British Consols group games Along with Bill Gethons host Stroud club and the two from Barrie rinks others eligible to take part include Cookstown Base Borden Alliston Bradford Churchill Collingwood Ctreemore Elmvale Schomberg Shelburne Stayner and Thor on Smurthwaite is divisional representative in charge and all indications point to lively competition before the ultimate winner is decided Games are planned for Monday Tuesday and Wednesday which means the five sheets of curling ice at the Stroud rink should be busy to say the least The winning rink will qualify to meet the 108 division winners in playoff at Elmvale rink on Saturday Jan where Lou Turner will be in charge The winner at Elmvale then will proceed to Tillsonburg where victors in 10 11 and 12 divisions will engage in provincial championship playoffs scheduled for Sunday Jan 16 Other divisional winners will be playing at Kingston Aylmer and Toronto the same weekend Finals for the Ontario cham pionship in this key single rink competition will be at Brantford Feb to 12 The Ontario champions will then have the opportunity of com peting in Macdonalds Brier for allCanada honors in March While the Consols games have the spotlight the Stroud club also is busy preparing for other competitions mixed bonspiel is planned for Saturday Jan 15 with two games or each entry while mens open event is set for two weeks later on Saturday Jan 29 with three games for each participating rink CHRISTMAS GREETINGS FROM SPORTSMEN player who performed in 36 Mann cup winners back in that era when most of the Orillia players were imported he asked if any other exteammates were now living in or near Orillia Frank Piper Bain native of Brampton who was onetime leading golfer at Shanty Bay club Norman Macleod has been living at Yellowknife where he explained he doesnt get too much op portunity to play golf anymore But occasionally he gets to Edmonton
