are sending best wishes to council and the city staff with the city development committee adding special note to Mayor Parker for her generous assistance in city development DRIVEWAY PROBLEM The committee also answered petition from residents on Kozlov Street north of Heather Street The residents are com plaining about the severe slope of their driveways which are causing problems in the winter with snow and ice The committee says the city does not control the slope of driveways but added the planning and development department will investigate the possibility of some regulation for new developments The finance committee wants the city to charge $850 for each copy of the citys new housing policy statement to recover general expenses involved in its production Last year year the city received $10000 grant from the province to produce the policy The committee is refusing counteroffer by Charles and Beatrice McNiven for land for the extension of Kempcnfelt Drive The land was cxpropriated number of years ago and the city and the owners have been negotiating selling price According to the finance committees report Mr McNiven had accepted an offer of $2500 which the city will not increase TECHNICALITY The committee has stopped petition from gas station operators in Barrie on technicality The operators south of Highway 400 asked the city to amend its early closing bylaw which restrict the hours of the gas stations But the finance committee is not recommend ing any change in the bylaw because according to the Ontario Municipal Act the bylaw cannot be amended but
