Canada share affluence TORONTO CP Ken Davis describes himself as an industrialist in the boiler business who believes Canada must share its af fluence with underdeveloped countries He is president of KG Davis Equipment Ltd of Toronto firm which buys and installs automated boiler plants but admits his passion is for his current job as chairman of world community services for the 57 Rotary clubs that make up District 707 in central 0n tario Mr Davis 57 is the represen tative for Rotary Inter nationalmore than 16000 clubswhich has joined forces with the Canadian In ternational Development Agen cy CIDA to help the Third World lot of people think we shouldnt be spending money in these countries Mr Davis said in an interview But dont believe in that My philosophy is that we should be sharing our affluence with those countries which have been exploited for hundreds of years HELP FOR CARIBBEAN His Ontario group also is twinned with 46 Rotary clubs in the Caribbean where they have been organizing selfhelp proj ects for islanders in culture fishing health and ucation Mr Davis recently led an ap peal to have each of his 57 On tario clubs donate Holstein breeder for shipment to Haiti to help the industry there So far he has received promise of 23 cows from the clubs and five from individual farmers Two years ago the govern ment of Grenada where Mr Davis has small business Granada Citrus Products 1974 Ltd passed law banning im ports of fruits and vegetables that could be grown on the island Mr Davis with funds from CIDA and the United Church of Canada started selfhelp market garden experiment on 10 acres In the first year of eration the islanders so $1175 worth of cocoa bananas and tomatoes which are under the import ban PROVIDES WASHING UNITS In St Lucia the Guelph
