next month The games are scheduled just after Christmas on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday Dec 28 29 and 30 Besides Stroud rinks in 10A division include Barrie Borden Cookstown Alliston Bradford Elmvale Creemore Stayner and Collingwood which means there should be some pretty keen competition before the divisional representatives in the provin cial playdowns is decided Along with the Consols current curling attention at Stroud also is centred on mens open turkey bonspiel which has been arranged for Saturday Dec 18 The entry list is still open with Smurthwaite of RR Stroud the Convener in charge An Elmvale rink skipped by Garry Turner won this division in the British Consols last winter qualifying for the prvincial championship roundrobin at Peterborough where rink from Mississauga ultimately captured the laurels All these rinks in addition to Orillia Midland and others in this area of 10B division are expected to take part in the Simcoe County championship roundrobin which is due to start on Sun day Dec Games are scheduled for every second Sunday for both North and South section entries with the three leaders of each section taking part in championship playoffs at the Barrie rink in March Doug Brown of Cookstown heads the executive for this popular General Tire sponsored curling event CIRCLE PINE SPIEL OPEN FOR ENTRIES Base Borden curling officials are getting ready for three day bonspiel to be held at the Circle Pine Golf and Country club rink on Thursday Friday and Saturday Dec and The competition is open to 24 rinks with entries closing on November 30 The approved rules provide for three different events with four prizewinning rinks in each Presentation of awards will be made at Saturday evening banquet and entertainment at the conclusion of the curling At Elmvale preparations are continuing for the fourth an nual invitation bonspiel for some $1800 in prize money This threeday event which is due to entries from Barrie Bradford Midland and
