always his dog Sometimes it is his rabbit Especially if the rabbit doesnt exist And giactically everyone wants to friends with Harvey the worlds most famous non existent rabbit and special buddy to Elwood Dowd hero of the celebrated Broad way comedy hit called Harvoy coming to the Georgian College Theatre on Monday through to July 10 as presentation of The Gryphon Theatre Company The spirit and idea of Harvey in or out of quotation marks has so penetrated every city throughout the world where the comedy has been given that Harvey has come to enjoy popularity that makes most live and visi ble actors green with envy When Frank Fay who played Harveys pal on Broadway strolled into restaurant with Mary Chase who wrote the laugh hit about the sixfoot rabbit who wasnt there waitress came over to ask Will there just be the three of you Evidence of Fays persuasiveness in his role or of the reality of Harvey When Joe Brown was ap pearing in the touring com pany of Harvey he received crate of rabbits from an anonymous Hol lywood friend The attached note read ur lady rabbit hasnt been near another rab bit for year Wherefore Harvey must be responsible for this progeny Well thank you to keep him chained hereafter Just how much people can get caught up in the spirit of this Harvey nonsense is il lustrated by the story of one man in Cincinnati who assured waitress in one of the citys swankier restaurants that Harvey would be along any minute and that he was holding place for him During the meal the lone diner ad dressed many remakrs to Harvey and asked his opinion on various subjects The pay off came when the earthy waitress included Harvey in the bill and assessed his host $2 cover charge for Harveys imaginary pre sence They say the man paid the bill without whimper The ACTRA When not busy as an actor or direc tor he is involved as guest director with the students at the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Art RICHARD DAVIDSON played in The Sunshine Boys last year in Barrie and now returns to appear in both Harvey and The Prisoner of Second Avenue His career spans 11 years and he trained in London England and Scotland after which he returned to his native Canada for two seasons at Stratford He has appeared regularly in all the media and lately in CBCs On The Evidence He has the role of Hirsch in the film Breaking Point released lately and was seen
