school spoke Wed nesday afternoon at the third birthday of the Barrie ANN LANDERS She wont use hubbys name Dear Ann Lenders My problem is one have never read about in your column nor have ever heard it mentioned by anyone else find it imfiossible to call my husband by his name whenI am speaking to im dont use any endearing substitutes either such as honey or dear ust dont call him anything When was younger ha the same problem with another man for whom cared deeply Is it emotional Can you explain why Im like this How can get over it Thanks for any help you can give me Short Circuit In Sandusky Dear 80 According to Dr Harold Visotsky director of the Institute of Psychiatry at Northwestern Memorial Hospital there may be one of two reasons for your problem depending on how you feel about your husband If you have warm and loving relationship your inability to call him by his name is an attempt to deny this close rela tionship with the purpose of protecting it against possible loss If you feel some deepseated resentment against him some hidden anger perhaps your refusal to address him by name is your way of keeping him at arms length So look inside honey and take your pick Dear Ann must make big decision and youve got to help me My best friend and her husband asked if would look after her little boy when she and her husband went on vacation said yesthinking it would be week or so Yesterday Katie came over to discuss their plans Suddenly she said Do you think you could water my plants when were gone Six weeks is long time for plants to go without water asked Six weeks She said Yes it wouldnt pay to take trip like that for shorter time When found my tongue explained that my husbands va cation begins on the 15th and we were taking our four children across country in cam Well Katie shot back you can take Jimmie along He love it almost dro ped my teeth My husband says he doesnt want their chil on our vacation and allowed as how it was lot of guts for anyone to leave kid with friends for six weeks hate to lose her friendship What should doUnglued In Carolina Dear Carolina Glue yourself together and say Well take Jimmie for number of days but when we leave for our vaca tion youll have to make other plans Our camper can just barely accommodate our own family If the friendshi falls apart you may be lucky She sounds like very brassy la to me Dear Ann Lenders Im lSyearold girl who needs some answers Ieamed from your column that alcoholism is sickness What about fathers who cheat Is that sickness too Ever since my mother told me Daddy has been having an af fair with woman he works with find it hard to be decent to him Id feel better if thought he was sick What about itBC Girl Dear BC In way it is sick so consider it as such and try to be
