Poole Alliston church to mark centennial By MARGARET STOLTZ ALLISTON The parish of St Pauls Roman Catholic Church Alliston is cel ebrating their centennial dur ing 1976 with various proects and events which began ack in January when centennial calendars were made available The CWL ladies have been busy quilting there was centennial dance spiritual renewals and centennial book has been compiled and published Joseph McCarroll is chairman of the centennial committee which has worked hard to promote this impor tant time in the life of the church with the work shared by subcommittees looking after specific projects and the publishing of the history The cornerstone was laid on the 28 of May 1876 and centennial celebration is planned for Sunday May 39 The Most Rev Philip Pocock DD JCD Ar chibishop of Toronto will conduct concelebrated mass at 1100 am and everyone is invited to recep tion in St Pauls School bet ween 100 pm and 400 pm when historic data pictures and artifacts will be on display This coming Sunday May 23 will be another spiritual renewal The committee has an at tractive display in store window on Victoria Street which includes the handiwork the ladies in the beautiful quilts and wall hanging Many will welcome the op portunity to share in this im portant milestone at St Pauls plaque with names of all the priests who have served the parish through the years will be tingin January given board approval ANGUS Repairs to the Tottenham Dam in the amount of $59520 will be started this month the Not tawasaga Valley Conserva tion Authority board decided at meeting here The repairs expected to be completed by July include rebuilding of the millrace structure and installation of new stoplog mechanism for better control of the pond level The Village of Tottenham gave the mill pond the dam and the surrounding land to the NVCA several years ago The Ontario ministry of natural resources will give grants for 75 per cent of the cost with the remaining 25 per cent or $16400 to be paid by all member municipalities the NVCA Actual repairs will cost $42600 with engineering and contingency costs making up the total The project was approved by vote of 12 to with some
