collect some money from the various commercial outlets that operate at airports He said other fees could be charged to people who want to tie down airplanes over night and any possible STOL operations believes more money is available Both have said if theres enough local support for the airport then theres all kinds of money available he said In the past any local groups looking for local airport never had any support of the community The committee he said as an offictal body of council is surveying city industries to see what the existing com panies want Most of the groundwork for the airport is completed he said saying the city pur chased 242 acres in Oro township in 1967 to develop an airport The land primarily rocky isrented COST RISES In 1970 the federal government funded survey and study of the property Maps showing the airports proposed runways and soil tests were prepared The estimated cost of the airport was $225000 for 3000 by 100 foot runway The federal government pro mised the city $175000 in grants Nothing was done It probably cost closer to $500000 to build the same thing now but thats very mugh estimate Mr McNall said The land is located 106 miles from downtown
