producers dis rupts the market and does not help the producers for which it was created Charles Gracey association manager said at the annual meeting of the Ontario Institute of Agrologists that the program designed to support the price of slaughter cattle is unable to bring stability to the industry Mr Gracey said stabiliza tion program may have merit as long as it has format sim ilar to an insurance policy and only stops losses He questioned how the pro yam can contribute to stability when the price support levels for 1976 have not been an nounced He said farmers have claimed only quarter of the $12 million authorized for the first phase indicating massive misunderstanding or producer contempt The beef industrys problem has been overproduction and the freemarket system is eliminating that he said Peter Hannam vice president of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture said farmers need an income stabilization plan for protection against threats of increased production in the US this year Mr Hannam said stabilization programs can protect farmers from un controllable market forces and interference from foreign governments The programs also can protect production base and farm returns coun ty amount to $27142 for county purposes in comparison to $27980 last year when it was raised by $6034 Beeton will pay $31035 for county purposes up from $28446 while the Cookstown contribution will amount to $18987 down from $20449 The levy for Creemore amounts to $17208 about the same as last years $17718 Coldwater will pay $13778 down from $15003 The county will ask purposes and $1453000 for roads The 1976 gross expen diture was estimated at $10334152 for county purposes compared to $9686655 The in crease was offset by higher grants but within guidelines and other general revenues The finance and general government committee headed by Reeve Bill Gibbins of lnnisfil presented the budget figures which were approved by the councillors yesterday The committee Measures Organization will be disbanded effective from yesterday following deteriorating grants from the federal and provincial governments County EM is disbanded MIDHURST Staff Simcoe County Emergency Measures Organization program was disbanded yesterday with ap proval from county council The decision was made after discussions at various times about the advisability of conti nuing the program by the council During the past few years the provincial and federal governments grant structures have been deteriorating placing more of the cost on the county Notification also was reciev ed from the city of Barrie earlier that they concurred with recommendation of the Barrie board of police commis sioners that the Barrie police department establish its own auxiliary police The countys
