8-Orono Weekly Times, Wedniesday, May i4th, 1978 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he hath announted me to preach the gospel to the poor: To bind up the Broken-hearted: To Pro- dlaim Liberty to the Cap- tives: To Comfort ail that Mourn: To give unto them - Beauty for Ashes, the 011 of Joy for Mourning, the Gar- ment of Praise for the Spirit of Heaviness". .Luke 4+18. Sunday morning was a perfect May 2lst. The oriole returned to my tree on Saturday, May 20 just ten days later than other years. Five girls and three lads sang, "Put you hand in the hand of the man from Galillee", accompanied by Mrs. K. Wood. Mrs. A. Tizzard told the children's story. During the week Mrs. E. Foster and Miss C. Stewart had been the delegates from the Newtonviile charge to the Bay of Quinte Conference. held in Queei's University, Kingston. Miss C. Stewart gave us an interesting account of this event. One of the ministers that was ordained this year is the Rev. Eric Barr of R.R. 2 Orono. He is to preach the Anniversary Service at Kirby next Sunday morning. Mr. Maurice Brad- ley is lay suppiy minister at Tory Hill. Rev. A. Tizzard was home for a couple of days but had to return to Bowman- ville Hospital. We were pleas- ed to have the Rev. and Mrs. Norman MacKenzie with us at the morning service. They were down to their cottage for the Victoria holiday weekend. There are a few tickets lef t, contact Reg. Ellioitt. The movie, "Gospel Road" with Johnny Cash and June Carter will be shown after the banquet. The other day I picked Up a Dutch cake mix. I thought I could surely makea cake mix even if 1 couldn't read the directions. It didn't turn out. However I realized what a handicap it is not to be able to read. There are a lot of boys and girls going through our schools who can not read. Perhaps they were among the, dropouts. Maybe soxneone in the class laughed when they rend chicken for children. Maybe they.moved often to several schools. Maybe they couldn't see the blackboard or couldn't hear what the tea- cher said. Now they can't get a drivers licence because they can't rend the questions. One young man who lhad, somehow managed to get a licence and a job as a truck driver spent a whole after- noon hunting for Pharmacy Avenuýe. He was looking for a street beginning with "F". The. boss fired him. When a vote is called notice how many spoiled ballots are cast. Encourage> these young folk to seek help. We are glad to report that a new storekeeper is coming to F.R. We have missed it a great, deal during the last three months when it has been closed. Perhaps we only needed a pound of raisins and a package of tea hardly worth driving six miles, to Newtonville to get.
