Yroung Canada Works advisory board This year the federal gover- nment is allocating $119,0001. under the Young Canada Works Program to create summer jobs for students in Northumberland-Durham. This year the Young Canada Works Program operates from May lst to September 8tb. Ail hiring is conducted tbrough the local Canada Ma npower Centres. The deadline for applicat- ions under this year's Young Canada Works Program was February l7th. As in previous years, I have nominated a representative group of local citizens ta' assist the Minister of Employ- ment and Immigration, by screening applications from Our area and suggesting those that he should approve. These citizens, known as a Minister- ial Advisory Board, provide a valuable knowledge of local conditions and a necessary community influence for the program. But the final deci- sion on aIl grants rests solely with the Minister of Employ- ment and Immigration. I must stress that these people are ail volunteers, who donate their time and servi- ces. Following are the names I have proposed to the Minister as his 1978 Advisory Board for Northumberland- Durham: Charlotte Clay, Bewdley - Hamilton Township council- ]or and student at Trent Universi ty; Mrs. Ruth Gor- don, Cobourg - housewife and mother; George Hl.
