The vote on Monday dashed any hope by the promoters to hold the event in the city in 1978 or in any future year. Promoters, Molson and Mlosport, have sought ap- proval during the past six months to hold the Grand Prix auto race in the city. Such a proposai was àlso made two years ago. It wvas the intention of the promoters to hold the Grand Prix on existingi streets along the lakeshore as well as making full use of roads in the Canadian National Exhibition grounds. Couificil voted 18 to 4 in turning down the proposai.
