6-Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, November 23rd, 1977 SÉ""P'OR TS Te nnant Fuel Atoms Orono travelled to Port Perry on November 18th for a Friday night game and we defeated them 4-2. Orono goals were scored by Grog Vey 2, Stephen Murree 2. Assists were given to Paul Rosseau, Stopheni Murroe, Greg Vey, Robert French 2. Great game by overyone. Right down to the goalie who had'a super gamne (Chris Langford). On Saturday, November 19th Oronoj Atoms hosted Peterborough, Orono skated away with a 6-1 win. Goals were scored by Greg Vey 2, Guy Brachvogel 2, Paul Henry 2. Assists were given to Greg Vey 4, Guy Brachvogel 2, Paul Henry, Paul Rosseau. Defense played well as did Paul Henry, Greg Vey, David Little and Bradley Roberts. Keep on winning guys!!! O.M.H.A. Bantams On Tuesday, Novembor lSth tho -boys played Newcastle on their home ice in Bowmanville. Paul Reed and Steve Stec connected for the only scoring in the first period. Newcastle came back in the second with a goal but before it was over Paul Reed tipped in Jim Moffatt's'blast from the point and Ken Prescott also assisted on the play. The third period was a physically fought fifteen minutes with Newcastle getting the tieing goal. Dan Mitchell was hot in goal to hold the boys for a 2-2 tie. On Sunday, Novomber 2th the Bantams travelled, to Uxbridge to meet them for the first time this year. Uxbridge got two goals in the first period, a dded four more in the second period before Orono could pick up a marker. Paul Reed did the job with Steve Stec in, the third period for the only scoring of this penalty filleci 15 minutes. Orono had a two man advantage but still couldn't come up with any goals and the game ended Uxbridge 6, Orono 1. On Monday, November 21, Pickor- ing was in for our weokly home game. The first period brought one goal by Pickering. They opened the scoring in the second period and then Steve Stec poked in Robbie Talsma's and Warren Nichols pass. The boys saw Pickering add six more goals bofore they could get back on track with a sizzling blast by Jim Moffatt passed up by Dan Mitchell. The game ended Pickering 8, Orono 2. The first game of the year saw the boys tie Pickering se they are'capable of playing better hockey. Their next game will be in the Darlington Sports Centre on November 28th against Uxbridge. October 27th - Newcastle 7, Orono 1 Scoring lone goal for Orono was Rodney Armstrong Wxith an assist to Eddy King. Novemiber 6th - Uxbridge 4, Orono 2 Scott Prescott scored both Orono goals with an assist going to Scott Richards. The teamn played a good grame. Novemiber 7th - Peterboroughi 6, Orono 1 Duffy Hamre netted the lone Orono goal with an assist going to Ted Oster. Despite the score the Orono boys played well. Novembor 5th - Orono 3, Oshawa 1 This was the boys first trip to the Civic Auditorium to play Bo Peep Black Hawks. Goal scorers for Orono were Jeff Mitchell, Scott Prescott, and Murray Dennis. Assists went to Eddy King, Don Doxtater, and Mike Ball. November lSth - Orono 3, Oshawa 0 Orono played Oshawa Bruins and came away with a 3-0 vîctory. Orono goals wero scored by Jeff Mitchell, Scott Richards, and David Groskopf. Assists went to Steve Sawyer and Jeff Mitchell. Geoff Green played well getting his first shutout of the season. Mr. Fennell represented by Charles Ewert briefly outlin- ed a proposed development for a marina complex in Newcastle. Council pointed out that there was need of a site plan and said that information presented in a drawing and mode] of the complex did not constitute a site plan. Mr. Ewert agreed that the presented informat- ion was not a site plan and that a site plan would in the near future be presented to council or the planning advis- ory committee.
