Orono Weeklv Times, Wednesdav. October 26th. 1977-5 SPORTS Orono Bantams play First Home Game at Hampton Thurs-day, October 2th, was the opening game of the O.M.H.A. schedule for the season. The boys travelled to Pickering-to battie a 3-3 tie. Duane Major opened the scoring for Orono in the second period on a pass from Jîmi Moffatt after Pickering had got 2 in the first period. They added another before the second period had ended. Af ter the break the boys came out charging and Ken Prescott slipped in a pass from AI Webster and Steve Stec. With just 4.24 left in the game, Paul Reed connected with Paul King and Jim Moffatt to complete the scoring and the game. On Sunday, October 23rd, the action switched to Peterborough to the double pad Kinsmen Arena to play their Bantams, Paul Reed blasted in Rob Talsma's and Steve Ste's pass to open the scoring of. the gam e.-Peterborough came b'ack in the second to tie it up before Kirk Carr and Shayne Adams 'connected. Peterborough again tied it Up and then went ahead before Paul Reed slipped in a rebound from Steve Stec and Rob TaIsma. In the third period Warren Nichols blasted a shot from the point on a pass from -Alan Webster and screened bDy Duane Major. Warren'let go with another sizzler from the point this time passed out by Ken Prescott to end the game Orono 5, Peterborough 3. Monday nights fromn 8:00 p.m.. to 9:30 p.m. is the Bantams home ice in Darlington Arena. Port Perry was in for the opener and handed the boys their first loss of the, season by a score of 4 to 1. Orono's only goal came in the second on a nice play by Robbie Taisma with assists to Kirk Carr and Shayne Adams. During the last 3 games Dan Mitchell has played superb goal stopping many that have been labelled as goals. Terry Hedges and Wayne Zoschke have also played weli defensiveiy to support the teams good efforts. On Monday, October 3lst, the boys host Oshawa at Darlington Sports Centre for their next game. on Thursday, November lOth from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.mi. at the Courtice Secondary School.
