AIl spring flowering bulbs must be planted in the fal season and can be planfed f rom the middle of September until the end of November. The bulbs should be planted as they bloom in the spring, the crocus f irst, say f rom the middle of September f0 the end of October, also the Hyacinth, the Muscaris, the Iris, then follow the dwarf or Kaufmenia tulips, the dlaffo- dils, the Greigli tuîips and the Fritillaria, and for the final planting the late tulips, such as the parrot, late, Darwin, Cottage and lily flowering tulips cani almost be pianted until the ground f reezes over. We have planted them as late as the week before Christ- mas, and ;hen we covered the soil with a 3 inch layer of peatmoss, and we had a beautiful showing the follow- ing spring. These planting times are a guide, because you cen stert planting any bulbs anytime now, and if you wish you can plant them al1 at once, s ince the late varieties can be planted early, but the ea rly varieties should not be planted late. It is essential that you plant bulbs in a welI1 dreined soil, if the soil is clay, mnix some sharp sand through the soul, or if the soil is very sandy mix in some form of humus such as peatmoss well1 rotted menure.
