Weekly Times, Wednesday, March 9th, 1977 KlrbY School VoIIeybaII Stars Urge action for Sr." citizens in Newcastle- Town council wýas asked on Monday night just what mnight be holding up developmnent of a proposed Senior Citizens development in the Village of Newcastle. Mr. Bud Wager, representing the, Village Chamber of Commerce, ad- dressed council in the matter. Mayor Rickard stated that to his knowledge there was no holdup from the municipal level. He said the extension to the road is being worked on and that in due time services would be available. The Mayor did note that the Regional Works Department had requested t hat no devel- opment in Newcastle be allowed that would proceed the devèlopmnent of the new proposed water system by six months. Counc. Dykstra stated that the region had no objection to the developmnent other than noted by the Mayor. H1e also informed Mr. Wagar that the Town's planning department was compiling a report for the committee and counicil and that this would be before them at the next meeting. He cited cases of large increases in the recent billing and foliowing his hearing said if it continued on this basis costs would run as high as $1,000.00 a yèar. He felt costs had risen from $100.00 to $200.00 in some cases. Counc. Gray said that he had been missed for a whole yea r in billing for sewers but when paying the cost at the end of the year found the bill to be only $114.00 which he feit was not excessive. It was aiso stated by councillor that numerous complaints were being plan- ned by the Region. _77-77.
