Relative to its growth in production capacity, Hydro's staff has been steadily de- creasing . In 1961, Mr. Ga ther- cole pointed out, there wa s one staff member per 600 kilo- watts of capacty. Today the ratio is one for every 900 kilowatts and the trend, is expected to continue. Inflation, hie said, continued to be a serious con cern. Despite efforts to offset rising costs of fuel, equipment, property and labour costs and higher interest rates, annual rate inicreases appear unavoid able for the next few years. -We are confident, how ever that our rates will remain fully competitive with those in other jurisdicitions an d to other forms of energy. Al indications are that electricity will c- tinue to be called upon to pi -, an expanding role in meeting Ontario's energ y re- quirements and in contribut- ing to the health of the economy and the environ- mental quaity that most people desire.", Continued from page 2 E.R. Lovekin a couple of months ago referred to a greater community use of the local facilities than now happens and it was his wish to see this come about. Douglas Moffat in holding two track and field meets at the grounds noted that even the present faciliites proved to be the best in the area and he felt that it was an ideal location to hold such events. The grounds this year have corne into use to a greater degree than in the past and perhaps with greater local participation this could surge ahead. It can hardly be expected that the agrîcultural Society can carry the full load. Needless to say the grounds are there and they should be used to the fullest extend. Roseneath fair grounds is a fine example of community use of grounds and these particular grounds are well kept the yéar round. The grass is cut, not as a hay field but as a community park. Perhaps the Chamber could assist with the upkeep of the grounds for it is a show place of Orono for the thousands of cars that pass Orono each day. COMPLETE AUCTION SERVICE ESTATE .... FARM ...
