Lets Be In The Show The Towns of Cobourg and Port Iope have anniounce- ed the designation of their respective nunicpalities as ini- centive areas. It would seem that Clarke Township would be well advised to have the Township' so designated and to make a greater effort to-obtain industry to this municipality which is fast becoming, a dormatory for neighbouring centres. The scheme costs the municîpality nothing but with- out it we, can only assume that wc are offcring, less than other municipalities. Certainly if Port Hope and Cobourg are able to qualify for such desîgnation then so should Clerke Township. The incentive is warranted iný Clarke to assist, if needed, our present, manufacturing firms. in this area the municipality should be concerned and endeavour to do al ia its power to provide every, opportunity for further growth of existing industry. - Let's not lag behinid but rather bc one of the fore- runners of new opportunity and legislation., Announcement of Cobourg's de- signation as an incentive area un-- der the Ontario Government's new program for the equalizationi of 'industrial, opportunity was made recently at a regular meet- ing of the Cobourg council. "This gives Cobourg the op- portunity to compete with other incentive areas under the fed- cralassstace lan," Mayor Hee- flan said. The town is to bie un- der thie plan uintil June 30, 1969. The town may, however, reapply for designation but, the decision' will rely on an assessment of the town's industrial circumstances 1 at the tixne.
