In a -manner of speaking, the young New Zealander also took second, third and fifth spots, for his own designed and buiît Mc- Laren-Elvas dorinated the race. Arnerican Lothar Motschen- bach er drove one into second place and McLaren's New Zeal- land tearn-rnate, Chrîs Aînon, drove another into third place. Fourtli was Mak Kronn in a McKee-Chev and fifth, Canadian John Cordts in yet another Mc- Laren. The race was rnarred' by trag- edy in the first heat when 'Amer- ican Jerry Grant lost control of his Lola in Turn Two and killed a track Marshall, Grant who was unhurt in: the accident, was so upset by the tragedy that he was taken to hospital for sedative treatrnent.
